Unexpected Heat Buildup Started A Team Discussion
Hello everyone, hope you're all having a great day. I wanted to get some advice after we noticed something unusual during a routine maintenance check. A few transformers supplying areas with lots of computers and electronic equipment were operating warmer than expected, even though the electrical load appeared to be within limits. While reviewing the situation, one of our engineers suggested that the harmonic content of the load might be the real issue and recommended looking into k factor rated transformers instead of simply replacing the existing units. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation, and did making that change improve long term performance and reliability?
